AC Ace Classic Car Specs

AC Ace

After a long battle in the boardroom, the AC Ace name was revived and the automobile launched in 1997. A version of the Ace had been designed by International Automotive Design in 1991, and the prototype used a Cosworth turbo four-cylinder engine, which was replaced in production with a modified Ford V6. The model didn't do well, with 48 sold before AC went in to receivership. Pride Automotive Group later acquired the company and came up with the current Ace, with smoother body lines. The outside was aluminium and composite, bonded to the stainless steel chassis to form a stiff structure. Suspension consisted of double wishbones front and rear, with 10-inch (282mm) discs all around covered by wide 17-inch (436mm) alloys. Under the hood was all Mustang V8 again, as with the 1960s Shelby-built AC Cobra, though this time with sequential fuel injection as well as a supercharger.
